Parents and Students, I am so excited to see everyone again as the new school year starts.  The beginning of the school year is a wonderful time for us to Begin with the End in Mind.  Every year I see students start out strong and work hard all year to achieve their goals.  That is so neat to see.  We hope to help all of you reach your goals whether they are academic, social, or personal.  Discovery Elementary will be using the “Road to Success” website for the 2017-2018 school year to help track reading minutes again.  Last year they changed the website and it was not useable for our teachers.  We believe that they have fixed all of the bugs and it should work well.  Information will be sent home the first week of school for each child to log in. We will also continue our reading minute clubs with rewards for students that reach the milesto…

What a great year this has been.  Thank you to everyone that has done so much to help students learn this year.  Our students have worked really hard to reach their goals this year and have seen great results.  One thing that we have had this year is great results with our reading minutes.  We will be holding our Candy Bomber reward on Tuesday, May 9th at 2:00.  We encourage all AM kindergarten parents to bring their children back to see the candy bomber fly over.  As we approach summer we want to stress the importance of reading every day.  Discovery students have grown in amazing ways, and the best way to keep that up for the start of next year is to read all summer long, 20-30 minutes each day.  Each year we start over working toward new goals, but much of this can be avoided if students read all summer long.  If you have a student starting kindergarten next year, please contact the office to get them registered, and in classes for the fall.

Spring Break is here!  I hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend.  It seems like everything on the Calendar has the word “Spring” in it.  As the end of year approaches we have a lot of activities going on.  Please see the calendar on the back for the dates, but we want to make you aware of a couple.  First, April 12-13 is a special event for the kids.  All students who have earned at least 3 leader badges will receive a ticket for free admittance to the Adventure Zone at 680 South Main.  They can use the ticket either day.  Students can still earn previous badges, and we will be sending home the Habit 6 Synergize and the Habit 7 Sharpen the Saw We look forward to seeing you there.  To earn the badges students need to teach you about that habit and have the form signed.  Leader of the Month badges do count as well.  Our teachers recently met to discuss what our vision is for the future.  As we discussed this we identified some of the most important th…
