Parents and Students,
I am so excited to see everyone again as the new school year starts. The beginning of the school year is a wonderful time for us to Begin with the End in Mind. Every year I see students start out strong and work hard all year to achieve their goals. That is so neat to see. We hope to help all of you reach your goals whether they are academic, social, or personal.
Discovery Elementary will be using the “Road to Success” website for the 2017-2018 school year to help track reading minutes again. Last year they changed the website and it was not useable for our teachers. We believe that they have fixed all of the bugs and it should work well. Information will be sent home the first week of school for each child to log in. www.rtsutah.com We will also continue our reading minute clubs with rewards for students that reach the milestones of 3,000, 6,000, 9,000, 12,000, and 15,000 reading minutes during the school year.
Here are a few announcements:
· The PTA will be taking orders for T-shirts at the Open House on the 24th.
· Yearbooks can also be purchased at the open house, then at the front office for $15.
· School starts on August 28th with the first bell ringing at 8:25.
· Kindergarten Assessments start on August 28th with class lists posted on Friday 9/1. You should receive a postcard by Monday 8/21 with your assessment time. If you don’t get one by 8/25, please call the office. Kindergarten classes will begin 9/5.
· Please do not park in the pick up loop before 2:20pm. We have a small group of students that need to be picked up at that time.
